Design Options

There are many lighting options to choose from when designing an event. The lighting designer’s job is to help you create the effect or atmosphere you are looking for. Explore some of the possibilities below. From timeless chandeliers to modern gobos, from popular fetes to gorgeous lanterns, trust On Your Mark to deliver the ambiance that takes your event to the next level.

Indirect Lighting

Lights focused into a ceiling, tent top, or onto high walls where the light reflects off the surfaces to create a soft glow to illuminate a space.

Direct Lighting

The light source is directly focused towards a specific area or object to create strong illumination. Direct lighting is often used on the stage, dance floor, floral arrangement, signs or person to illuminate them.

Up Lights

Lights are placed on the ground or floor with beams focused upwards on columns, curtains, walls, trees, or other structures to highlight that particular feature and create a soft indirect lighting source.

Pools of Light

Lights focused downward onto table tops, floors, bars or any other areas. This is a dramatic lighting effect to create visual appeal. This lighting can be coordinated with your color pallet and/or design board.

Effect Lighting

There are many different types and ways to use special effect lighting. In general special effect lighting is used to add special or unique color and/or visual impact to areas of a venue to attract attention or focus of the guests/crowd to specific areas or to just give that WOW to your event.

Balloon Lights

RGBW LED light inside a 5 foot diameter balloon elevated 12 to 16 feet to illuminate an area with ambient light. This balloon light can also be hung from a ceiling or rigging in a tent to illuminate a space. This type of light is great to illuminate a large space with very little structure or hardware.

Chandeliers

Create your unique look by choosing your decorative chandelier. Choose a chandelier of your liking and let OYM hang it for you to create whatever feel you like. Feature any chandelier to create sculptures of light prominently above your grand affair.

Drapery

Create elegant walls and soften a room with textiles in various textures and sizes.

Fabric Treatment

Fabric can be used in so many different ways to enhance the elegance of a space. It can lower a ceiling of a room, soften the look of a space, add pops of color, create contrast, hide something, divide a space, create a space, and so much more.

Fete Lights

Fete lighting, bistro lighting or cafe lighting can be used to create an indoor or outdoor warm and inviting festival feeling. This look is created with lower wattage (10w) edison or LED light bulbs strung on wire (black or white) and suspended between freestanding steel poles, planter boxes, under tents, drop ceilings and many other options. This look creates a classic, timeless look that enhances the ambiance of any space.

Floral Structures

Florals and greenery can transform any venue or space creating the desired aesthetic and atmosphere. OYM works with you and/or your florist to create the structure behind the florals or to just install the floral creations from your florist.

Gobos & Custom Gobos

Use light to create projected shapes, patterns or images that can be projected onto walls, floors, dance floors, ceilings, and tent tops. They can also be used to project monograms, initials, logos, or event specific designs. Gobos can be used to help set the mood of an event by choosing different patterns like romantic lace, natural leaves, or peaceful stars.

Illuminated Shapes

Use lighted shapes to enhance your venue or event space. These waterproof versatile light fixtures can add a sophisticated or playful touch to your event.

Lamp Posts

Our free-standing street lamps add light to any location. These street lamps are 12 feet tall, and are mounted on a 150 pound base that is 32 inches square. This unique design element will add elegance to any space. The street lamps are lit with an LED battery powered light. The LED’s have a minimum 1000 lumen output, a selectable 2700K, 4000K, and 6500K color temperature, and are dimmable with a remote control.

Lanterns

Add a romantic, whimsical or just a unique touch to your event by adding lanterns. Lanterns can be used in many ways, as centerpieces, aisle/pathway markers, and create ambiance by being hung from trees, tent tops, and ceilings. Many different styles of lanterns are available. OYM carries silver metal lanterns and many different size and shaped paper or vinyl lanterns.

Mini Lights

Create a delicate and inviting ambience by using mini lights for your special event. These lights provide a soft and gentle often called twinkle lighting effect. Mini lights are very flexible in their use. They can be draped across ceilings, wrapped around pillars, beams, columns or trees, placed in mason jars or lanterns, woven in floral arrangements, used as backdrops, hung in fabric, light up signs and along pathways. Mini lights are a versatile enchanting lighting option to create visual appeal and ambiance for any event.

Mirror Balls

Mirror balls create a dazzling, dynamic effect, creating numerous moving or stationary spots of light. Hang this over the dance floor and with a pin spotlight we create a room full of sparkle and stars. Mirror balls are used to create a visually stimulating and energetic atmosphere wherever you decide to put them.

Pinspots

Draw attention to specific details of your design/vision by using pinspots. These narrow-beamed lights can be used to highlight specific details like centerpieces, floral arrangements, seating charts, wedding cakes, dessert tables, head tables, sweetheart tables, bars, mirror balls, and anything else you want to draw attention to. These lights create an enhanced visual appeal on your chosen elements without overpowering the overall ambiance.

Staging

Enhance the experience of your event by creating a stage (elevated platform) to maximize the visibility of your audience. Whether the stage is for your ceremony, band, or just for speeches a stage will add to the enjoyment of your audience without them even knowing. OYM can provide a stage as small as 4’x4’ with a rise from 4” to 2’. Our staging can be configured to meet your needs either indoor or out.
